SDA Gets Some New Blood: Red Cross Veteran Martha Chapin Appointed Manager of Education

  • Long-time Outreach Specialist Will Strengthen SDA Education Efforts on Safe, Beneficial and Proper Use of Cleaning Products

WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 21, 2008 – Martha Chapin, a long-time information and outreach specialist with the American Red Cross, has joined The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA – www.cleaning101.com) as Manager of Education.

"During her 18 years at the Red Cross, Martha worked and provided leadership in customer services, supervising staff and volunteers and developing strategies for program implementation and growth," said Nancy Bock, SDA Vice President of Education and Meetings. "Her skill sets will work perfectly at SDA as we continue to grow our external outreach efforts on the safe, proper and beneficial use of cleaning products."

At SDA, Ms. Chapin will edit and manage publication of SDA's electronic consumer education newsletter, Cleaning Matters (www.cleaning101.com/cleaningmatters), which is published bi-monthly. She will also manage programs and projects related to dish care, fabric care, poison prevention, and the website of the "Healthy Schools, Healthy People: It's a SNAP" program, www.itsasnap.org.

SNAP – the School Network for Absenteeism Prevention – is a joint program between SDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that promotes hand hygiene education in middle schools.
