SDA Supports American Chemistry Council Call for Modernizing TSCA
ARLINGTON, VA – August 4, 2009 – Ernie Rosenberg, President and CEO of The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA), issued the following statement at a news conference where the American Chemistry Council announced a set of principles to modernize the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA):
“SDA congratulates the American Chemistry Council for announcing important principles for modernizing TSCA. SDA has been working with ACC and will continue to work with our partners throughout the supply chain for science-based regulations that protect human health and the environment.
“SDA’s members work to enhance global public confidence in the safe use and management of cleaning products and their ingredients through a system of decision making that is scientific and collaborative.
“Modernizing TSCA will go a long way toward enhancing the public’s confidence in responsible management and regulation of chemicals.
“SDA is committed to targeted risk-management measures that focus priorities and are practical, timely, transparent and responsive to the needs of consumers and other stakeholders.
“We also want a program that will encourage innovation and acknowledge the benefits our products provide to enhance health and the quality of life of billions of people around the world.”
