  
Trade Groups Applaud Fragrance Industry for Move Toward Transparency
WASHINGTON, DC (August 31, 2009) The Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA), Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association (CCSPA) and The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) welcome with enthusiasm plans by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) to become more transparent about the fragrance ingredients used in consumer products.
IFRA announced August 5 that it will publish a list of fragrance ingredients used by industry customers by December 31, 2009. The list will be posted on the IFRA website, www.ifraorg.org.
The IFRA initiative enhances the CSPA, CCSPA and SDA Consumer Product Ingredient Communication Initiative, where manufacturers of cleaning products, air care products, automotive care products, and polishes and floor maintenance products will voluntarily disclose ingredients in these products by January 1, 2010.
CSPA, CCSPA and SDA applaud the fragrance industry for taking the initiative to communicate more information about the fragrance ingredients present in consumer products. This move complements the CSPA, CCSPA and SDA Initiative by further expanding its scope.
