WASHINGTON, DC – December 6, 2007 – The cleaning product industry is addressing sustainability socially, environmentally, and economically. The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) will showcase examples of the industry’s leadership at its 2008 Annual Meeting and Industry Convention, January 29-February 2 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida.

“Going Beyond Green” is the theme of the 82nd SDA Convention, which will feature keynote presentations from sustainable development expert and entrepreneur Ray Anderson and product trend analyst Lynn Dornblaser of Mintel International. Issues briefings and meetings throughout the week will also emphasize how SDA and its members are demonstrating sustainability on a daily basis.

SDA’s Convention is the cleaning product and oleochemical industries’ number one forum for business interaction and networking, and annually brings together top executives from cleaning product formulators and marketers, ingredient suppliers and distributors, oleochemical producers and finished packaging suppliers. Thursday Breakfast Speaker - Ray Anderson

Ray Anderson is the founder, chairman and CEO of Interface, the world’s largest producer of commercial carpet. His leadership and commitment to environmental responsibility in the marketplace has led to international recognition and honors, including his being named co-chair of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development in 1997 and receiving the inaugural Millennium Award from Global Green, presented by Mikhail Gorbachev in 1996. In 2001, he was selected by the National Academy of Sciences to receive the prestigious George and Cynthia Mitchell International Prices for Sustainable Development. Mr. Anderson will offer Convention attendees his insights and expertise on sustainable commerce in the 21st century.

Friday Breakfast Speaker – Lynn Dornblaser

With more than 20 years experience tracking and analyzing new product trends, Lynn Dornblaser will talk about “Going Green and Beyond: Options and Opportunities for Soaps and Detergents.” Ms. Dornblaser, Director of the Mintel International’s Custom Solutions Group, will take a look at the different types of environmentally responsible cleaning products, how product concepts from other categories may apply, and how some companies have taken both small and large steps to offer products within this “green” halo. Mintel International, Ltd. is a research publishing company with offices in London, Chicago and Sydney.
